On 21 October 1951, Bharatiya Jana Sangh is formed in Delhi with Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee as its first President.

Kashmir Agitation
Jana Sangh launches a powerful movement under Dr. Mookerjee on Kashmir and national integration.

Lok Sabha Elections
Under the third Lok Sabha, Bharatiya Jana Sangh resurges and wins 14 seats.
1967
Strong Electoral Surge
Clinching 35 seats, Jana Sangh emerges as the second largest party in UP, Haryana and MP.

Emergency Resistance
Indira Gandhi imposes emergency on 25 June 1975. Jana Sangh leaders courageously resist.
